John Lloyd is the driving force behind Chop Hair Studio, a creative hub where barbering and hairstyling meet precision, purpose, and personality. With decades in the industry and an appetite for growth that never wanes, John’s journey has taken him from early technical foundations to leading a studio that pushes boundaries in both craft and community.
Today, his time is split between guiding Chop’s vision and shaping the skills of hair professionals around the world. Through international education and coaching, John works alongside global educators, sharing advanced techniques, systems, and a mindset rooted in precision cutting, creative adaptability, and thoughtful execution. This global perspective and deep commitment to growth have helped build connections that elevate both Chop and the wider hair community, inviting leading educators into Malaysia and giving the team opportunities to collaborate with respected brands and creative partners.
At the core of John’s work is a belief that great hair is built on a foundation of listening, technical clarity, and continuous evolution. Whether in the studio chair or on stage teaching, he’s shaping the next generation of stylists and barbers while keeping Chop at the forefront of craft, culture, and creativity.
Tian Loh - Director & Co-Founder
Tian’s journey into men’s grooming started in Brisbane, Australia. What began with apprenticeships turned to travelling and working across various countries, hunger for knowledge - seeking different approaches stylists across the globe share towards hair, chasing a deeper passion for getting cuts to feel and look right, not just trendy. Along the way, he built international connections with industry leaders, occasionally joining John on global stages and representing the CHOP brand together.
Today, Tian brings that global perspective straight to each client in his chair. He’s all about precision, cutting with purpose and intention while balancing practicality and creativity. Every haircut is tailored to the individual, not the other way around, so you walk out looking and feeling like you, only sharper.
Beyond the chair, Tian has co-created CHOP as a space for stylists and barbers to grow and refine their craft. The studio gives talented individuals the tools, guidance, and opportunities to elevate their skills and build a more fulfilling career, helping them take both their purpose and their lives to the next level.
Izzuan - Barber

Izzuan is a men’s stylist / barber with a clear obsession. Having built his foundation in various barbershops, including his time at JawDrop Barbershop, he’s known for his patience, control, and an uncompromising eye for detail.
Calm, precise, and highly deliberate, Izzuan approaches every fade with intention. From clean blends to seamless transitions, his work is meticulous and considered, never rushed. After being on Chop’s radar for some time, he officially joins the team bringing consistency, focus, and a deep respect for the craft of men’s haircutting - one fade at a time.
Yaswan - Stylist
The prodigy returns. After taking a year off to discover his own path, Yaswan is back at Chop - sharper, more focused, and ready to carve out his place as one of the studio’s rising stars.
Versatility is his hallmark. From precise cutting and creative styling to barbering, he approaches every appointment with intention, skill, and a vision for greatness. Beyond the chair, Yaswan is also stepping into more of a managerial role, helping shape the studio’s direction while continuing to refine his craft. With structure, focus, and relentless drive, he’s on a fast track to mastering his artistry and making a lasting mark in the hair industry.
Poi Kai Wen- Stylist
A quiet and observant professional, Poi discovered her passion for hair after a transformative haircut in 2021. Originally from East Malaysia, she took a bold step early in her journey by moving to Kuala Lumpur - driven by a desire to grow, learn, and challenge herself in a bigger environment.
Now at Chop Hair Studio, Poi is known as a well-balanced stylist with a calm, thoughtful approach. Confident across both men’s and women’s hair, she specialises in clean, precise cuts, strong perming work for men, and colour and cutting for women. Every appointment is handled with care and attention, ensuring each client feels heard, comfortable, and confident in her chair.
Wesley - Barber
Wesley brings an easygoing and approachable energy to the shop, making him someone clients naturally feel comfortable with. Friendly and attentive, he takes the time to understand each individual, creating a relaxed and seamless experience from start to finish.
His approach to barbering is rooted in practicality. Wesley focuses on delivering clean, well-balanced cuts that fit effortlessly into his clients’ day-to-day, whether it’s for work, business settings, or a polished everyday look. His work prioritises wearability, ensuring each style grows out well and remains easy to manage.
With a strong sense of what works in real life, Wesley combines simplicity with intention, helping clients look sharp without overcomplicating the process. He continues to refine his craft, staying focused on consistency, comfort, and delivering styles that clients can rely on.
Mateen - Stylist
Mateen joins Chop Hair Studio with a style and approach that aligns naturally with the team’s direction. With a strong focus on women’s hair, he specialises in creating soft, seamless blends and well-structured cuts that feel both refined and effortless.
His work leans towards natural-looking results, from balayage and colour to clean, balanced shapes; always prioritising harmony, movement, and wearability. Each service is approached with intention, ensuring the final outcome complements the client’s features and lifestyle.
Known for his calm and thoughtful manner, Martin creates a comfortable experience while maintaining a high level of attention to detail throughout. With a clear focus on consistency and finish, he continues to develop his craft, delivering work that feels polished, modern, and true to the Chop standard.
Ikhwan - Barber
Ikhwan carries a quiet presence, often letting his work speak for itself. Focused and composed, he approaches each cut with intent and attention to detail.
Grounded in strong fundamentals, his technique is clean, precise, and controlled. There’s no unnecessary complexity — just a clear understanding of structure and execution. His cuts are built on simplicity done right, resulting in sharp, consistent finishes.
A highly technical barber, Ikhwan values discipline in his craft. From start to finish, every step is deliberate, reflecting his meticulous and detail-oriented approach.
